"Every day we're fighting for our lives, and the rest of the world is like watching a movie. But it's not a movie. We are real people. We are in hell. Pain, hunger, fear and death - this is our reality", told Sergei Volynski, commander of the 36th Marine Brigade, who protects Azovstal.

Since late April, Mariupol defenders have been blockaded at the Azovstal plant: they are members of the Azov National Guard regiment, marines, border guards, and police officers, Ukrainian media reported. 

They asked the world for salvation: the Marines for "extraction," and Azov for at least the evacuation of the wounded fighters.

On May 14, a fighter with a call sign "Police" said that there were about 600 wounded at Azovstal and almost no medicine, water or food. 

The AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) General Staff stated that the Mariupol garrison had fulfilled its combat mission and now the commanders have an order to keep the personnel alive. 

The Defense Ministry explained that there was no other option to save the defenders from Azovstal except to surrender to the enemy.

Western media reported that at least 7 buses with Ukrainian fighters under the control of Russian occupiers left Azovstal on May 17. 256 defenders, including 51 wounded, were taken to a colony in Yelenivka. The Ukrainian fighters will be interrogated.

С конца апреля защитники Мариуполя заблокированы на заводе "Азовсталь": это представители полка Нацгвардии "Азов", морские пехотинцы, пограничники, полицейские, сообщают украинские СМИ. 

Они просили мир о спасении: морпехи – об "экстракции", "Азов" – хотя бы об эвакуации раненых бойцов.

14 мая боец с позывным "Полиция" рассказал, что на "Азовстали" около 600 раненых, почти нет медикаментов, воды и еды. 

В Генштабе ВСУ заявили, что гарнизон "Мариуполь" выполнил боевую задачу и теперь у командиров есть приказ сохранить жизнь личного состава. 

В Минобороны объяснили, что нет другого варианта спасения защитников из "Азовстали", кроме как здаться противнику.

Западные СМИ сообщали, что 17 мая с "Азовстали" выехали, по меньшей мере, 7 автобусов с украинскими бойцами под контролем российских оккупантов. 256 защитников, включая 51 раненого, вывезли в колонию в Еленовке. Украинских бойцов будут допрашивать.
